Mike is a highly skilled butchery Catering Manager with over 40 years of experience. He began his journey as an apprentice butcher at the age of 16, eventually owning three successful butchery shops in Tetbury, Stonehouse, and Nailsworth.

His expertise extends beyond his own ventures; he has also served as an area manager, training young butchers and apprentices, a skill he now employs to manage the exceptional butchery team at Jesse Smith. He began on the butchery counter at our Love Lane farm shop before becoming a key butcher in our wholesale catering division, specialising in whole-body beef butchery.

George is also part of the team that butchers all of Jeremy Clarkson’s beef, sourced from a consortium of local farms, ensuring top-quality cuts for our customers.

matt - logistics manager

Matt joined our team last year as a part-time driver, and has since stepped into the role of Logistics Manager. His responsibilities are wide-ranging - from maintaining our fleet of vans, to overseeing our team of drivers to ensure top-tier customer service.

Despite his new role, Matt isn’t ready to hang up his driver gloves yet! “Our drivers are often the only face-to-face interaction our customers have with Jesse Smith’s, so it’s essential that we deliver not just premium products but also a first-class service. The drivers play a huge role in shaping how customers perceive the business.”
